Some More Bite…

24 June, 2007 (14:10) | General | By: LTO

My writing style seems to be getting a little harder edged these days. I’m finding myself more intent on getting a message into readers minds rather than hoping they’ll like me. This seems to be a far more effetive way of writing because I can feel a difference when I write an article or a post.

I feel more satisfied that I may have written something that will provoke a reaction in my readers. I think I picked this up from Steve Pavlina (Many thanks to him), who writes some great articles. There is no point in writing anything if it doesn’t have some sort of vibration to it. It must have an energy, so that it can resonate with the reader in a certain way. Yes it’s good to get people to think about what I say, not necessarily to agree with it. It gets boring when everything is too agreeable anyway. Dynamic is the way to go. Shaking things up a bit and provoking feedback from readers. Of course there’s no point in trying to cause a reaction for the sake of it. That’s really boring. I’ll still be writing from the heart.

This more direct form of writing will be reflected in forthcoming articles. I’m still looking for authors here at Leave The Office, so if you want to balance out my new "Tiger" approach that’ll be good. Writers who don’t mind a bit of banter with their co-authors would be interesting, liven the place up a bit and provide some entertainment here too, so come on!

Jumping The Gun…

23 June, 2007 (13:07) | General | By: LTO

I’ve just been reminded of a lesson of how important it is to back up data!
I just upgraded Wordpress and mistakenly worte over my home page, which I had painstakingly structured to be different from the blog.

So when I went to my backup folder to get the original data I realised that I hadn’t made a copy!

Now I’ll have to write the whole page again from scratch! I’ve decided to take a positive outlook on this and say that my words on the last homepage obviously weren’t the right ones and this is a sign to write something really great!

Tip for the day: DON’T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR BACKUPS!!!!!!

Re-programming

22 June, 2007 (19:05) | General | By: LTO

Now that I have had time to assess the changes I have implemented on this website, which I hope gives it a new lease of life I am preparing to apply something similar to myself.

It is time to dig deep and commit to life in a way that I have never quite had the courage to do. Time to re-program my thinking and my automatic, habitual behaviour that limits my potential. I am no longer prepared to tolerate the limits that are subconsciously controlled by my self-imposed comfort zone.

Now I have a clearer idea of what Leave The Office is I can now separate a stuctured, prepared style of writing from a more freeform and personal one. The latter being the blog, which continues as the unfolding story of my journey to absolute financial freedom doing what I am most pasionate about in the place that I am most pasionate about with the person I feel the most passionately about. (more on that later).

I want to express the grattitude for everything I have experienced in the last few of years for it is these experiences that have steered me to the place I am in now and have provided me with the education I need to live the life I truly know I deserve and desire. Clarity is still my biggest mantra at the moment and one which I will be writing about alot. I want to get it into people’s minds that being clear about what you truly desire, what is truly your passion in life, not just in your head, but in your bones, is the first step and once that is known to you, you have the power to reach any height. Once you are clear, you will know if it just an interest or a passion to do whatever it takes. It is impossible for any outside force to stop you from succeeding. No exceptions. The only thing that can ever stop you is you. Yes we have all heard it before, so much that it is a cliché. It is that cynicism that is the by-product of all of us keeping ourselves caged in our comfort zones and rationalizing why we do the things we know will not take us to where we want to go and why we do not do the things we know we need to do to get there.

You know what I’m talking about.

FEED ME! A Cry For Help…

18 June, 2007 (20:12) | Site News | By: LTO

Since the redesign the feed link will not work for my posts. I was using the feedburner service. It looks like something is wrong in my database table, but I have no idea how to fix it. I have tried every trial and error thing I can think of.

Please if anybody knows how to fix this stuff I would be very grateful for them to contact me and help me sort it out. I can’t understand why it doesn’t work anymore. the feed for comments works perfectly.

Thank you.

AGLOCO Update…

18 June, 2007 (18:34) | Internet | By: LTO

Agloco. Own the internetNow that the mad rush to download the Agloco viewbar is over I decided to give it a try out. It’s actually quite unobtrusive.

I have had my reservations about Agloco, but I suppose everyone and everything should be given a chance to prove their worth, so I’ll be doing just that.

If you haven’t signed up for Agloco, you can still do so, just click on the image. It won’t make you rich overnight, but it will pay you, so what have you got to lose?

A Nod of Recognition to The Old LTO Theme…

18 June, 2007 (00:55) | Site News | By: LTO

LTO Old HeaderSo it’s goodbye to the beloved, original LTO header. It’s a bit sad not to see my favourite beach at the top of the page, but I felt that there’s no point getting too personally attached to a picture. A new header, a new beginning for this website.

Still the old header is still proudly displayed in the Travelog because I didn’t see the point in redesigning the stylesheet and templates for that.

Ironically, now I am getting more active in developing this site I have also started to get more active developing 3 or 4 new sites. All this and trying to find the time to devote to my music, which is going as strong as ever. I guess the busier I am, the less time I will have to procrastinate. Time managent is my weakness, so this is a good exercise for me. If you’ve seen the new (temporarily written) homepage then you will also be aware that I am very keen to get a few like-minded and enthusiastic writers on board to "Guest-blog" here at Leave The Office to provide a variation of writing styles. If you are interested in this please contact me. You’ll be given the title of LTO partner and I think we can build ourselves a great team that will bring benefit to each other and those that read the content.

To all those that already read this blog. I thank you very much indeed and I look forward to you continuing to read the rest of the website as it develops.

Ciao for now.

Be back soon!

The Secret: A Video Response by Bob Doyle.

17 June, 2007 (17:13) | Law Of Attraction | By: LTO

Bob Doyle is a guy I have a great deal of respect for, so whenever there is any news from him I always take notice. Today is such a day and thus gives birth to this post.

If you don’t know already, Bob features in the movie "The Secret" and explains things in a very practical way. There’s nothing "New Age Hippy" about Bob Doyle! This is one of the reasons that what he has to say always interests me.

Now if you know about "The Secret", you may have some opinions on the message that it gives. I’m not here to suggest whether certain opinions are right or wrong, but I know that many people do have certain objections and questions about the Law of Attraction and how it is presented in the movie.

Bob has produced a short video in response to this and I would like to share it here as I think it will help clarify a lot of points that people might have preconceptions about.

It would be a tragic shame if somebody didn’t live their life to it’s fullest because they misunderstood a simple message and all it may have taken was that message to be explained again. After all, if your doctor tells you that you have six months to live and you need to "make preparations", wouldn’t you get a second opinion?

Ready For A New Era?

13 June, 2007 (16:40) | Site News | By: LTO

If I don’t get on and start reconstruction work now then I can see it becoming a project that never actually gets off the ground.

Seeing as this blog doesn’t make much money at present I am comfortable with the thought that during the maintenence work it may be unavailable for periods of time or in a state of dis-repair shall we say.

Rather than waiting to start work until I have all my ideas, designs and layouts finished I am just going to dive in and "massage" it into shape. That way it will be able to take the shape it is supposed to take more naturally. Over the years, producing and mixing music, watching other’s techniques and my own experience I have come to know something about my creative process of bringing everything together in harmony and synergy.

With mixing several tracks of audio it doesn’t take long for everything to start sounding great. It’s as though the mix is almost complete in no time at all. Then however, when I start to gently fine-tune all the instruments and voices to fit more naturally with more space, things start to fall apart sonically, so after a few hours it’s as though the overall mix has deteriorated, but this is an illusion. It’s like a Rubik’s cube puzzle. You have to break up some of the sides you have matched up in order to re-align the other sides too (although I never actually managed to complete that puzzle!). Anyway, just when it all sounds like a mess there comes a point, ever so subtle where suddenly I’ll realise that it sounds great again. Only this time it is very close to being complete. This is my experience of how it works for me and I am applying this philosophy to rebuilding this website.

So it may look great very soon, but then look like somebody has taken a hatchet to it, followed by a beautiful new Leave The Office, reborn and ready to inspire once again.

Some results of my mixing methodology can be heard here

What can we expect from the new improved Leave The Office? Well, I’m open to discovering the path as I go along as I have been doing already. This is why this is all happening now. I always had an openness to this blog being whatever it wants to be, but I have got a few specifics that I will try to implement and reader feedback is always welcome in shaping it of course.

I would love to have a number of writers here posting as and when they feel. There would be a general guideline to the subject matter, but it would provide the site with some varied writing styles and a chance for people to explore another channel for their writing.

There will be some content, which I hope will expand people’s thinking and inspire positive changes in their lives.

I also want to include podcasting and involving a number of other websites that I have created., providing a network of some kind. My main areas of content, which are also my main interests in life are music production and self development. Sounds scary, but self development is just a phrase. Who doesn’t want their life to grow as big and full as it can possibly be?

If this inspires any suggestions from people I would be very grateful for the feedback. If you want to be involved at all and you have an idea of how you think you could be, just drop me a line on the contact form.

It’s time to be big!

What’s Next?

10 June, 2007 (21:21) | Intentions | By: LTO

Leave The Office is going to change. I am getting bored writing about myself and lately I haven’t really felt that there is anything new to write about. The path to fulfillment

I experienced a huge amount of postive changes in my life since the end of 2006 and there seemed to be something to report often. I was excited to document the latest episode and my self-belief was through the roof. Now this surge of energy has plateued, which is no bad thing. I am able to take stock of where I am and formulate some plans in a practical sense that will drive me ever closer to my heart’s desire, but I feel that if I continue this as a quest my reality will just become "me forever on a quest" and despite the old saying "The thrill of the chase" I want to hit my chosen target.

Leave The Office is going to be more than just a blog…
