Good Feelings …

I’m currently designing some pages for this site, which will document my first venture into South East Asia in 2004. It’s great going through the photos and the entries I made in my journal. It brings it all back.

In keeping with the idea of using this site as a testing ground as I teach myself the many facets of web development I have decided to set my sights a little higher than just a few basic pages and create a travelogue that will, I hope engage the reader from beginning to end. I just hope it turns out as good as it looks in my head!

In the meantime I have been teaching my friend in London how to start selling some items on Ebay as she has never done it before and she has some seriously big items to sell… If you’re in the market for a virtually-brand-new, Smeg Stainless steel oven with matching extractor hood or some hand-made, designer, hard-wood beds, let me know and I’ll pass the info on to her!

I also ordered a dozen red-roses to my girlfriend in Thailand to be delivered on Valentine’s Day. I know of a really great flower service called Thailand Flower Store. I have used them before, so I know they’ll arrive safely.

A New Look!

Like the new look?

Leave The Office has had a facelift. I think it looks tidier now, but I would like to hear some honest feedback as to the layout of the site.

Just remember it’s never finished!

All comments will be much appreciated on the new design or anything else for that matter.

Putting Pen To Paper

The hardest part of running a website is making it interesting and creating content that is worth reading and even re-visiting. It is this factor that sees me up against quite a hurdle.

I am having a hard time knowing what to include here at Leave The office and I am well aware that, so far as just a blog it is pretty boring, but that’s ok. I have decided to publish my pages as I go instead of making sure they are ready first or I won’t get to publish any.

At least then there is a chance for me to adapt what I have created from any feedback I receive. I have lots of ideas that don’t go much beyond a page title, so it is imperative that I work on one idea at a time and let the content evolve live on the site, so it might be entertaining checking here from time to time to see if you can catch me at work and spotting my mistakes as I edit my pages!

Taking Shape…

After some time contemplating what to do next with Leave The Office I have started to build some site pages. I will add pages as soon as they are in a ready state. It’s really motivating once one page takes shape. I am getting to grips with designing page templates and I am getting used to working with graphic design software too to make my pages look a little more polished.

Once I am happy with my site-building skills I will apply them to other websites that will have a more serious goal of making money. I want to state here and now, in case I forget further down the line that I intend to enjoy this whole process and not get attached to whether I make a lot of money or not.

I always feel that it is most important in life to be constantly creative. That is the only way to keep things fresh and alive.
