Closer to Freedom Than I First Thought …
Well I am going to be starting the shift pattern tomorrow and after studying the rota for the next year, it seems that I will have a lot of time off including the chance to have about a month off twice in the year in April/May and September/October.
This is great news! I’ll be able to get a feeling of what I am aiming for whilst I am thousands of miles away from the office and it means I’ll get much more quality time with Kan than I could ever dream of with a normal 9 to 6 job. Seeing as I have nothing much to do in the way of socialising when I am in the UK I’ll be able to save a good chunk of what I earn and I am even starting to think that it may be possible to buy a nice house/apartment in Thailand, paying it off with my UK earnings and renting it out for a while. Kan will be able to help keep an eye on the place too.
The time off I have whilst in the UK will also be great for me to put many wheels in motion regarding my web-business ideas and my creative projects, which are mainly music based. Shift work is a good arrangement for a musician like me.
In a way I feel like I have nearly left the office already seeing as I will not be commuting 5 days a week on a crowded train. I do feel sorry for all those miserable faces on their way to their chosen “chain gang”!
