Jumping The Gun…
I’ve just been reminded of a lesson of how important it is to back up data!
I just upgraded Wordpress and mistakenly worte over my home page, which I had painstakingly structured to be different from the blog.
So when I went to my backup folder to get the original data I realised that I hadn’t made a copy!
Now I’ll have to write the whole page again from scratch! I’ve decided to take a positive outlook on this and say that my words on the last homepage obviously weren’t the right ones and this is a sign to write something really great!
Tip for the day: DON’T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR BACKUPS!!!!!!

You can backup the database with the backup plugin. Of course that should be done at least once a week.
I keep a copy of my entire site locally. When I edit in Dreamweaver I edite the local files and they autmatically upload to the server on save, so it’s always mirrored.
The mistake I made was to overwrite my local copy with the default index.php file fromthe new version of wordpress and then upload it overwriting th ecopy on the server too. doh!
This made me realise the importance of a 2nd safety backup. As it happens I found a version left on my PC from when I was testing the design out locally before committing my new layout.
I’m such a geek! ![]()

YES!!! I did find a copy of it that I kept “by accident”. Now my origianl text is back on the homepage and the process of trying to come up with a new introduction has given me some material for a new article.
